Impact of Exchange Rate, and Foreign Direct Investment on External Debt: Evidence from Pakistan Using ARDL Cointegration Approach

Using time series data from Pakistan 1973 to 2021, this research examines the effect of exchange-rate, fiscal deficits, foreign direct investment and economic expansion on debt. The auto regressive distributed lag model is used in look into co-integration analysis variables their existence. study confirms positive significant relationship exist among rate exchange, investment, deficit, growth, external debt long run. However, short run, real effective exchange deficit are negatively related debt, whereas growth positively policy maker recommended that rises rate, value a domestic currency falls some extent, which improves loans must be returned.
